1. What format will you follow for the creation of your project?
I plan to create an editor's commentary video.
Q1: When referring to conventions of tabloid magazines I 100% believe that the magazine I created challenged conventions. When thinking of the conventions of tabloid magazines they are usually scandals and most of the facts are not true. Most tabloid articles are biased, and they swing the story to their advantage to get the desired reaction from their readers. While creating my magazine, I admit I went into it biased, however I was not going to let my individual opinions get in the way of finding the real facts. Other way my magazine challenges the conventions of regular tabloid magazines is that they usually report on scandals and gossip while my magazine did touch on some “scandals” within clearwater high I took it a step further to offer a solution to these so-called scandals giving all parties involved a chance for improvement. To add on my magazine does present social issues. High school budgets or lack therefore is a big issue with most clubs not having enough funds to be able to fund their extracurricular activities. However, my magazine touched on that and the issues on how to fix it.
Q2: My magazine engages with my target audience by presenting issues that actively affect them and their daily left. A choice that I made for my target audience while creating my magazine was finding a solution to the problem of the lack of budget in extracurriculars.
Q3: I feel like I learned a lot through this process but what I learned the most was how to actively interview people to find out the facts. For example, making sure the questions you ask do not have any biased undertones so the person being interviewed does not feel attacked. Regarding my production skills I feel like my designing got better such as the formatting of my spread.
Q4: I used technology for almost every aspect of this project. I used blogger to make almost weekly blogs and update my viewers on the process of putting together the magazine, Canva to put together the actual magazine, and YouTube to upload my critical reflection video. Technolgy was integrated in my project from the planning to the production of my magazines such as holding interviews via zoom or facetime and using photo editing apps to brighten up or crop the photos used.
3. How will we access your project? [Whatever you use MUST be accessible through your final blog post.]
I plan to upload the commentary as a YouTube video and uploading the link to my final blog.
