Topic/Idea Selected: The Truth About the Budget

Why? I chose this one because a big issue at Clearwater High is the budget and how it is distributed. So, I want to allow students and even faculty to know the truth about the budget and where it goes so, they are well informed. Because I often hear people complain that their sport or club is getting zero funding, so I want to educate people, so they are not completely blindsided. Also, use this magazine to show the school where their budget goes and how they can change the way it is distributed to make the school a better learning place for all students and not just a specific group.

• Many clubs/sports at the school are underfunded
• A wide portion of the budget goes towards football

List what your audience needs to know about your idea/topic:

• How large the budget is
• Why the budget is distributed the way it is
• Steps they can take to work towards a more evenly distributed budget

Focusing on what your audience needs to know, what is the focused purpose of your feature article? To explain what our school budget is and why it is distributed the way it is. As well steps that they can take to work towards a more evenly distributed budget.

Purpose Statement: As an Aice Media Studies Student, I am Writing a feature article about my school's budget to inform students, faculty, and parents where the budget goes and how they decide who gets how much money because many at Clearwater High believe that there extracurriculars are underfunded.
